We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Governess to provide an educational foundation for two young children, aged 4 and 6. This is a pivotal role focused exclusively on delivering a stimulating, nurturing, and structured learning environment in the family’s private residence in Chennai, India. The family also has full-time nannies employed in this fully staffed household.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework, fostering a love for learning through inquiry-based play and targeted educational activities. We are looking for a mature, professional, and compassionate individual who can become a trusted part of the children’s daily lives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Curriculum Delivery: Design, plan, and implement a daily educational schedule based on the IB framework, ensuring it is age-appropriate and tailored to each child’s developmental stage.
Structured Play: Facilitate play-based learning activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development, in line with IB philosophies.
Holistic Development: Foster key skills in literacy, numeracy, inquiry, problem-solving, and creative expression within a structured yet flexible routine.
Progress Monitoring: Observe, document, and informally assess the children’s progress, providing regular updates to the parents.
Routine Management: Oversee the children’s daily schedule during engagement hours, ensuring a balanced blend of education, recreation, and rest.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with parents and other household staff to ensure a consistent and harmonious environment for the children.

REQUIREMENTS:

Native-level English-speaking governess with experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum
A formal qualification in Teaching, Early Childhood Education, or a directly related field (e.g., PGCE, BA in Education)
Excellent references & DBS
Nurturing, reliable, patient and creative personality
Proven track record of educating children
Candidates with prior professional experience living and working in India or the Middle East will be highly preferred.
