SEN Rota Support / Retainer Nanny in Knightsbridge, London, UK

£70,000 - £75,000 yearly

Job Description

SEN Rota Support / Retainer Nanny – Knightsbridge, London – £70,000 gross a year, rising to £75,000 after probation

A busy, fully staffed private household in Knightsbridge is adding to its established childcare team. You would be one of three rota support / retainer nannies who step in when the family's rota nannies are on annual leave or off sick. The family have three children, born in February 2015, March 2017 and October 2020, and need someone confident and engaging who enjoys variety and can meet each child's individual needs, including those linked to Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and ADHD.

  • Location: Knightsbridge, London
  • Salary: £70,000 gross per annum, going up to £75,000 once probation is successfully completed
  • Days: a maximum of 162.5 days a year
  • Hours: on call to cover the rota nannies' sickness and annual leave; hours change with the family's needs and the team's schedule, so complete flexibility is essential
  • Accommodation: your own bedroom and bathroom, either in the family home or in the nanny apartment
  • Travel: with the family during school holidays, in Europe and further afield
  • Driving: a driving licence is not needed

The role

  • Looking after every aspect of the children's daily care while on duty, either on your own or alongside other members of the childcare team
  • Building good relationships with all three children and offering engaging care suited to their different ages and stages
  • Keeping up the routines and consistency the children rely on
  • Responding calmly and confidently to each child's needs, including those relating to ASC and ADHD
  • Covering the rota nannies during their annual leave and sickness
  • During school hours and quieter times, handling childcare admin, forward planning and preparing for evenings, weekends and school holidays, including holiday planning
  • The household is fully staffed, so the job centres on the children, with no general housekeeping

Essential

  • Proven SEN experience, in particular supporting children who have ASC and ADHD
  • Experience of working in high-net-worth private households

You will also need to be

  • Highly experienced in professional care of children of similar ages
  • Patient and self-assured, with a warm and engaging manner
  • Flexible, adaptable and at ease with a changing schedule
  • Very well organised and someone who likes to plan ahead
  • Proactive, resourceful and able to use your initiative
  • A strong communicator and a real team player
  • Professional and discreet, with a mature, thoughtful approach
  • Happy to travel with the family in Europe and internationally in the school holidays
  • Comfortable with animals, as the family have three dogs

Rota or retainer experience would be an advantage, but candidates with a strong private-household background and the flexibility to work this way are equally encouraged to apply.
