Live-out Housekeeper – Mayfair, London – £45,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on experience

A private family needs an experienced, dependable and very well-organised Live-out Housekeeper for their Mayfair residence. The main property is a lovely four-bedroom home where the family stay for roughly 3–4 months of the year. While they are in residence the house is busier, with four children at home, but the role involves no childcare. You will be one of three housekeepers working shifts on a rota and keeping the whole property to an exceptionally high standard. It would suit a proactive, discreet and flexible person who takes pride in their work and can anticipate what a private household needs.

• Location: Mayfair, London
• Salary: £45,000–£50,000, depending on experience
• When the family is in residence (about 3–4 months a year): six days a week, weekends included, on a rota with two other housekeepers
• When the family is away: usually Monday to Friday, with shorter hours
• Shifts: 08:00–15:00, 11:00–19:00 or 13:00–20:30
• Childcare: none required

What the role involves

• Keeping cleanliness, presentation and general housekeeping at an exceptional level
• Daily cleaning, tidying and upkeep of the main home, and of additional properties when needed
• Laundry, ironing and wardrobe care
• Simple home cooking and basic meal preparation
• Unpacking and putting away grocery deliveries
• Dealing with contractors and overseeing maintenance visits when required
• Making sure the home always stays immaculate, organised and well presented
• Adjusting duties and workload depending on whether the family is at home or away
• Working closely with the other housekeepers so the household runs smoothly

What you will need

• A proven track record as a private housekeeper in a high-standard household
• Excellent attention to detail and real pride in keeping homes immaculate
• Strong organisation, initiative and the ability to work independently without constant direction
• Flexibility to work a six-day rota, including Saturdays and Sundays, while the family is in residence
• Willingness to switch to shorter hours and a mostly Monday-to-Friday pattern when they are away
• Comfort working in a busy home with children, without any childcare responsibilities
• Discretion, trustworthiness and respect for privacy
• Confident dealing with contractors and the rest of the household team
• A quiet, unobtrusive manner and the initiative to see what needs doing
