A busy family household in Chelsea is looking for an experienced, organised and proactive Live-out Family Cook / Household Assistant. The family of four includes two school-aged boys, aged 9 and 11.

This is a varied, hands-on role with cooking and food preparation at its heart, combined with practical household and family support. A strong cooking background is essential, although this is very much a family household role rather than a Private Chef position. You will work alongside an established Housekeeper and Personal Assistant.

Cooking, food and nutrition

  • Taking primary responsibility for the family's day-to-day cooking and food preparation
  • Preparing wholesome, balanced and nutritious family meals using fresh, high-quality ingredients
  • Planning breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks, suggesting meals and also following the principals' own recipes
  • Batch cooking where appropriate to fit the family's schedule
  • Food shopping in person and online, sourcing good seasonal produce and managing household food stocks
  • Adapting meals to preferences, dietary requirements and allergies, for the family and household staff
  • Keeping the kitchen clean and organised, with excellent food storage and hygiene standards

Household and family support

  • Practical support with the children, including school pick-ups and driving to activities or appointments
  • Occasional evening childcare, approximately four evenings per month
  • Running household errands and helping with practical household tasks
  • Walking the family dog when required
  • Working closely with the Housekeeper and Personal Assistant

Candidate requirements

  • Around 10 years' experience in private households, with strong longevity in previous roles
  • A strong family cooking background and a genuine interest in healthy, nutritious food
  • Experience and confidence caring for school-aged children
  • A grounded, dependable, positive and energetic approach, able to use initiative and take guidance
  • Excellent organisation and time management
  • A confident, experienced driver with a valid UK driving licence (a car is provided for work use)
  • Dog friendly, highly discreet and a collaborative team player
  • Fluent English

Hours and leave may be adjusted around family travel. Occasional European travel is required, with accommodation provided.
