TN7075: Full-Time Academic Tutor & Mentor for Two Teenage Boys in Doha, Qatar

£6,200 monthly

Job Description

Full-Time Academic Tutor & Mentor for Two Teenage Boys (15 & 17) — Doha, Qatar

Up to QAR 36,000 / month

Full-time, Sunday–Thursday

Ref: TN7075

EED is delighted to be representing a prominent family based in Doha, seeking a highly organised Academic Tutor and Mentor for their two sons, aged 15 and 17 (grades 10 and 12). The tutor will act as the family’s single point of oversight for both boys’ academics, admissions and development. This is closer to an academic chief-of-staff role than traditional subject tutoring. The tutor doesn’t need to teach every subject personally but does need to hold the full picture (grades, deadlines, missing work, SAT prep, and the university admissions calendar) and report on it clearly every week.

The two boys are at very different stages. The Grade 12 student is a competitive athlete finishing his final year. He is focused on maintaining his GPA, completing SAT preparation, and staying on top of a full US university admissions process (shortlisting, essays, recommendations, deadlines) alongside a demanding training and competition schedule. The Grade 10 student is under conditional enrolment and needs a structured, hands-on academic recovery plan with measurable weekly targets to meet the school’s requirements by January, with particular focus on Biology (currently a retake) and Geometry.

Beyond the academics, the family wants a genuine mentor for both boys: someone who builds independence, discipline and good decision-making rather than dependence, and who can relate naturally to the older boy’s athletic commitments. A background or real interest in sport, fitness and nutrition would help the tutor speak to training, recovery and routine as part of the mentoring relationship. Any specific nutrition guidance should stay within the tutor’s own qualifications and be coordinated with the boys’ coaches.

The tutor will keep a clear tracking system across both boys and provide the family with a short weekly written overview covering progress, deadlines, concerns and priorities for the week ahead.

Working schedule: Sunday to Thursday, with Friday and Saturday off. The boys are at school during the day, so the work sits either side of it: preparation before school, then hands-on tutoring and mentoring after school into the evening. The role allows up to 12 hours of flexibility a day to cover travel, competitions, exam periods or sick days. Accommodation and transport to and from work are provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as the family’s single point of oversight for both boys’ academics, admissions and development
  • Managing the Grade 12 student’s GPA, SAT preparation and full US university admissions process
  • Designing and delivering a structured academic recovery plan for the Grade 10 student, with measurable weekly targets, focused on Biology and Geometry

  • Providing a short weekly written overview to the family
  • Communicating directly with schools and teachers
  • Mentoring both boys to build independence, discipline and good decision-making
  • Supporting the older boy’s balance of academics with training and competition

Candidate Requirements

  • Genuine, hands-on fluency with the US curriculum and university admissions system: GPA, SAT prep, application timelines and requirements (essential)
  • High-level academic qualifications from the UK or US
  • Proven experience managing multiple academic priorities at once, with a real tracking system
  • Confident communicating directly with parents and schools
  • Patient but firm, comfortable establishing boundaries and accountability with teenage boys
  • Proactive and self-directed, able to spot pressure points before they become problems
  • Flexible, willing to travel, and comfortable with a variable daily schedule
  • Excellent, verifiable references
  • Experience working with student-athletes strongly preferred
  • Genuine interest or background in sport, fitness and nutrition strongly preferred
