NATIVE ENGLISH NANNY / GOVERNESS | HAMPSTEAD, LONDON | ROTA 1 MONTH ON / 1 MONTH OFF

Location: Hampstead, London
Children: 4-year-old twins, both attending school
Schedule: 1 month on / 1 month off
Salary: £60,000-£70,000 NET per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
Contract: 1 year, with the potential for a long-term position
Start date: December 2026, flexible for the right candidate

A private family based in Hampstead is looking for an experienced, highly educated and engaging Native English-speaking Nanny/Governess to care for their 4-year-old twins.

Both children attend school, and the family is looking for someone who can combine excellent childcare with a strong educational and developmental approach.

This is not solely a traditional nanny role. The successful candidate will take an active role in the children's intellectual, linguistic, social, and cultural development and will be confident creating a stimulating, enriching environment at home and outside.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Providing attentive and professional care for both children during the working rotation
• Supporting the children's school routine and educational development
• Liaising with school and teachers when required
• Supporting homework and school-related activities
• Developing vocabulary, communication skills and confidence
• Encouraging independence and age-appropriate responsibilities
• Teaching good manners, etiquette and social skills
• Planning stimulating, age-appropriate educational activities
• Organising cultural and educational outings, including museums, exhibitions, theatre and other activities
• Making outings educational and engaging through discussion, follow-up activities and small projects based on what the children have experienced
• Planning interesting and structured programmes during school holidays
• Selecting appropriate books, educational resources and learning materials
• Accompanying the children to extracurricular activities
• Supporting the children's wider intellectual and cultural development
• Travelling with the family when required
• Working collaboratively and respectfully with other members of the household team

REQUIREMENTS

• Native English speaker - essential
• Excellent spoken and written English, with a high standard of grammar and vocabulary
• Relevant degree or professional qualification in Education, Pedagogy, Child Development or a related field
• Strong, proven experience as a professional Nanny/Governess in private households
• Previous experience within HNW/UHNW private families - essential
• Relevant experience with preschool and early school-age children
• Experience caring for two children simultaneously; twins experience would be an advantage
• Strong educational background and a genuine interest in children's learning and development
• Good understanding of the British education system
• Ability to independently plan educational activities and enriching programmes
• Excellent, checkable references
• Full right to work in the UK
• Comfortable working a 1 month on / 1 month off rota
• Comfortable working as part of a fully staffed household

A Norland qualification or equivalent high-level childcare training would be a significant advantage.

Knowledge of an additional language, particularly Russian, French or Spanish, would also be an advantage.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The family is looking for an intelligent, warm, energetic and emotionally mature professional who genuinely enjoys working with children.

The ideal candidate will be proactive and creative, able to turn everyday experiences into learning opportunities. For example, a museum visit should go beyond simply accompanying the children: the Governess should be able to introduce the subject, engage the children during the visit, discuss what they have seen afterwards and potentially develop a small related project or activity.

The successful candidate should be easy-going and collaborative, comfortable working within a household team and able to use initiative while respecting the parents' values, boundaries and approach to raising their children.

Above all, the family is looking for someone with a genuine passion for children who can build a warm relationship with the twins while providing a consistently high standard of care, education and development.

Salary: £60,000-£70,000  per annum, depending on the candidate's experience, qualifications and professional background.
