Overview

A lovely family based in Weybridge is looking for a warm, kind and reliable Nanny Housekeeper to join them as they prepare to welcome their second child.

The family has a four-year-old son and a baby due in November. Initially, while the baby is newborn, the role will focus on practical household support, including laundry, tidying and food preparation. The family already employs a cleaner for five hours each week, so this is not a heavy cleaning role.

An important part of the role during the newborn period will be helping to care for their four-year-old when he is at home, as well as providing an extra pair of hands while the parents are caring for the baby. Around the birth, they will need the Nanny Housekeeper to care for their four-year-old while Mum is in hospital and would particularly value someone who could stay overnight if needed. The children's grandmother will also be staying with the family at this time.

As the baby grows, the role will naturally develop into a predominantly childcare-focused position, caring for both children.

The family does not have close family support locally in the UK and is looking for someone who can become a trusted part of family life. Above all, they are looking for someone kind, warm and dependable, with excellent communication skills and a practical, flexible approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the family with their four-year-old and newborn.
  • Caring for the four-year-old when required, particularly during the newborn period and while Mum is in hospital for the birth.
  • Providing age-appropriate care, activities and outings for the children.
  • Preparing meals and snacks for the children.
  • Laundry, tidying, food preparation and light household duties.
  • Keeping children's bedrooms, play areas and belongings organised.
  • Driving the children when required using the family car.

As the baby grows, the role will become predominantly childcare focused.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous professional Nanny or Nanny Housekeeper experience.
  • Have experience caring for babies and young children.
  • Be warm, kind, reliable and organised.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Be proactive, practical and able to use their own initiative.
  • Be comfortable working alongside the parents.
  • Hold a current Paediatric First Aid certificate or be willing to obtain one before starting.
  • Hold appropriate Nanny insurance or be willing to obtain it.
  • Hold a full driving licence and be confident driving children.
  • Be comfortable around cats.
  • Be confident managing food allergies and using an EpiPen if required.

The family's four-year-old has peanut and walnut allergies, so confidence and care around allergy management are important.

Mum is Portuguese and Dad is German, although English is the main language spoken at home. Portuguese or German language skills would be particularly welcomed, giving the children the opportunity to develop a natural connection with their family languages, but this is not essential.

Benefits

  • £25.00 gross per hour.
  • Car provided for use on duty.
  • Two weeks' salary Christmas bonus.
  • Long-term permanent position with a warm and welcoming family.
