Overview

A professional couple based in Walthamstow are looking to appoint an experienced Housekeeper Nanny to support their home as they prepare to welcome their first baby.

This is a unique opportunity to join the household before the baby arrives, allowing you to establish routines and become familiar with the home. Initially, the role will focus almost entirely on housekeeping and household organisation. From early 2027, once the family have settled into life with their baby, the role will naturally evolve to include some childcare support alongside the housekeeping responsibilities.

The childcare element is intended to support the parents rather than replace them. One parent will remain at home on parental leave, so they are looking for someone who will become an extra pair of hands, providing practical support and occasional sole care for short periods when needed.

The principals are looking for someone who is proactive, highly organised and able to work independently. They value reliability, attention to detail and open communication and hope to build a long-term working relationship with the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Housekeeping

  • Clean and care for the home to a consistently high standard.
  • Carry out routine and deeper cleaning as required.
  • Manage household laundry, including ironing and caring for delicate garments.
  • Maintain an organised, tidy and well-presented home.
  • Organise wardrobes, cupboards and storage areas.
  • Receive grocery deliveries and put them away in an organised manner.
  • Monitor household supplies and advise the principals when items require replenishment.
  • Liaise with tradespeople and provide access to the property when required.
  • Work proactively, using your own initiative to keep the household running smoothly.

Childcare and Family Support

From early 2027, the role will naturally develop to include some childcare support alongside the housekeeping responsibilities.

This will include:

  • Supporting the parents with the day-to-day care of their baby.
  • Providing warm, attentive care for short periods, allowing a parent time to rest, attend appointments or focus on other commitments.
  • Assisting with feeding routines, naps and the baby's daily routine.
  • Caring for the baby's laundry and helping to keep the nursery organised.
  • Cleaning and sterilising bottles and feeding equipment.
  • Working collaboratively with the parents to provide practical day-to-day support as their family grows.

Household Support

  • Welcome the dog walker and provide access to the property when required.
  • Ensure the family's French Bulldog has access to the garden if the principals briefly need to step out.
  • Work confidently and professionally within a home where one or both principals regularly work from home.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working as a Housekeeper Nanny, Housekeeper or in a similar private household role.
  • Professional experience caring for babies or young infants.
  • Excellent housekeeping skills with high standards of cleaning and organisation.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A calm, reliable and professional manner.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of infant development and safe sleep practices.
  • A valid Paediatric First Aid certificate.
  • An Enhanced DBS check.
  • Excellent checkable references.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • Willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement (Non-Disclosure Agreement).
  • A full driving licence is preferred, but not essential.

Benefits

  • £23-£27 gross per hour.
  • Flexible working pattern of approximately 15-16 hours per week.
  • Opportunity to join the household before the arrival of the family's first baby and grow with the role.
  • Long-term, permanent position.
