Housekeeper Nanny - Part-Time - St Albans

Position: Housekeeper Nanny (75% Housekeeping / 25% Childcare)

Children: One little boy aged 9 months

Pets: One lovely 6-year-old Cockapoo. He attends doggy day care on two of the working days but will occasionally be at home, so the successful candidate should be happy around dogs.

Salary: £24 to £25 gross per hour

Hours Required: 18 to 21 hours per week

 

Preferred working pattern:

  • Tuesday: 12.30pm to 7.30pm
  • Wednesday: 12.30pm to 7.30pm
  • Thursday: Flexible hours

Alternatively, the family would also consider:

  • Tuesday: 10.00am to 7.30pm
  • Wednesday: 10.00am to 7.30pm

Start Date: September 2026 (flexible for the right candidate)

Overview

A warm and welcoming family based in central St Albans is looking for an experienced Housekeeper Nanny to help maintain their home and provide after-nursery care for their nine-month-old son.

This is a housekeeping-led position, with approximately 75% of the role focused on caring for the home and 25% dedicated to childcare. The family is looking for a kind, loyal, nurturing and proactive professional who enjoys taking initiative and would like to become a valued part of their family for the long term.

Key Responsibilities

Housekeeping

  • Full cleaning and care of the family's five-bedroom, three-bathroom home to a consistently high standard.
  • Laundry, ironing and changing bed linen.
  • Online grocery shopping and unpacking deliveries.
  • General organisation of the home.
  • Taking pride in maintaining an organised, welcoming and well-presented household.

Childcare and Family Support

  • Collect the family's nine-month-old son from nursery, located approximately 100 metres from the home.
  • Carry out his bath and bedtime routine after nursery.
  • Provide warm, attentive and age-appropriate care.
  • Confidently manage the period after nursery, ensuring everything runs smoothly until the parents return home.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working as a Housekeeper Nanny or in a similar private household position.
  • Excellent housekeeping skills and high standards of organisation.
  • Experience caring for laundry and garments to a high standard.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • A warm, kind and professional manner.
  • A genuine enjoyment of working with young children.
  • A current Paediatric First Aid certificate, or a willingness to obtain one before starting.
