EED is delighted to be representing a Saudi national family – based internationally but spending significant time in London – who are seeking an exceptional British governess for their daughter, aged 20 months and turning two in September. She is the couple’s first child.

This is a foundational, developmental educator role rather than a standard nanny position. The family regards this as the single most important appointment at this life stage, and the successful candidate will be central to laying the groundwork for their daughter’s journey toward London’s top girls’ prep school pathway — with St Paul’s Girls’ School and, ultimately, Oxford as the family’s aspiration.

The governess will be responsible for building strong English language foundations, early manners and social formation, confidence and genuine school readiness. The role is rooted firmly in the home and centres on early years development rather than formal lessons – structured, age-appropriate activities, language immersion, character formation and the building blocks of a confident, articulate, well-mannered child.

The family already employs a nanny who lives and travels with them; the governess will work alongside her and the parents to define the best possible daily schedule — balancing developmental activities with the child’s existing routine, including her French and Spanish tutors. The little girl has an evening bedtime of 6:30–7pm and naps during the day. She loves animals and games.

The family are well-travelled, speak excellent English, and have a strong working understanding of British culture and the British education system. The position is primarily based in London near Mayfair, though the family’s wider lifestyle is international.

Key Responsibilities

• Building strong English language foundations through immersion, conversation and structured play
• Designing and delivering age-appropriate developmental activities rooted in EYFS principles
• Supporting early manners, social formation and the foundations of confident, articulate behaviour
• Laying the groundwork for school readiness ahead of London’s top girls’ prep school pathway
• Working closely with the family’s nanny, the parents and existing French and Spanish tutors to shape a coherent daily routine
• Maintaining a calm, nurturing and developmentally-focused environment within the family home
• Reporting regularly to the parents on the child’s progress and development

Candidate Requirements

• Native British English speaker with a clear, refined (Received Pronunciation-style) accent essential
• EYFS, nursery or pre-prep teaching qualification and experience essential
• Significant prior experience with UHNW or high-profile international families essential
• Strong character, manners and confidence-building skills appropriate to early years
• Mature, experienced early years educator with calm authority, warmth and gravitas
• Professional, polished personal presentation
• Excellent, checkable references essential
• Enhanced DBS check essential
