Residential Private Educator/Governess for 5-Year-Old Twins in New York, USA
$200,000++ per year | 3 weeks on / 1 week off | Start ASAP

The family have boy/girl twins, both turning five in July 2026, who are currently educated at home. The parents are looking for a highly qualified, experienced teacher to take full ownership of the children’s academic development over the next two to three years within a fully homeschooled environment. Both children are bright and inquisitive, and the parents value a structured, academically focused approach with clear progression, measurable outcomes, and strong foundations in early literacy, numeracy and core knowledge.
The role is purely educational. The family employs full-time nannies, so the educator’s focus will be entirely on teaching, lesson planning, and the children’s academic progress. The family travel frequently, and the educator would be expected to travel with the family, with all expenses fully covered.
The household is fully staffed with long-tenured team members across personal training, culinary, and childcare. The family invest deeply in the people around them and look for candidates with the same long-term commitment.
Working schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm. Rotation: 3 weeks on / 1 week off.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and delivering a structured, academically focused home education programme for two children entering Reception / Kindergarten age
- Planning tailored lessons for each child with clear academic progression and measurable learning outcomes
- Building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy and broader knowledge
- Monitoring and reporting on each child’s progress directly to the parents
- Maintaining academic consistency and routine across multiple residences and travel periods
- Collaborating professionally with the family’s nannies and wider household team
- Operating with absolute discretion within a high-profile private household
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified teacher with recognised credential (PGCE, QTS, US state licensure, or equivalent)
- Strong specialism in early years / early elementary (Reception, Kindergarten, Year 1, Grade 1)
- Demonstrable experience in reputable schools, established private education, or formal homeschooling environments
- Confident delivering a structured, academically focused curriculum with clear progression
- Strong understanding of British and/or US early years and primary frameworks
- Prior experience in UHNW or high-profile private households highly desirable
- Polished, discreet and emotionally intelligent
- Professional fluency in English required
- Comfortable with extensive international travel and a rotational schedule
- Complete discretion, professionalism, and NDA comfort essential
- Open to thorough reference verification
- US work authorisation desirable; full visa sponsorship available for the right candidate
The Package
- Salary: c. USD $200,000++ per year — flexible for the right candidate
