A private UHNW family based in San Francisco is seeking a highly experienced native Mandarin-speaking Governess to support the education and development of their young children.

This is a premium opportunity for a qualified educator who can deliver structured, curriculum-led learning within a private household setting while also providing immersive Mandarin language exposure.

The role involves regular international travel, sometimes for extended periods, and requires a candidate who is polished, adaptable, and experienced working within high-expectation environments.

You will work collaboratively with the parents and household staff, acting as a professional, discreet extension of the family while delivering a consistent and engaging educational programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver immersive Mandarin language development alongside fluent English communication
• Design and implement structured, age-appropriate educational programmes (K–5 level preferred)
• Support academic progression, including literacy, numeracy, and school readiness
• Foster curiosity, confidence, and independence through engaging learning activities
• Track developmental milestones and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
• Maintain consistent routines and high educational standards across residences
• Travel internationally with the family for extended periods
• Uphold discretion, professionalism, and flexibility at all times

Requirements

• Native Mandarin speaker with strong English proficiency
• Formal qualifications in Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field
• Minimum 3–5+ years’ experience in a teaching or governess role
• Strong experience designing and delivering structured curriculum-based learning
• Confident working within a private household environment
• Flexible and available for frequent international travel (including long stays)
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident (visa sponsorship not available)
• Excellent references and professional presentation
