Daily Houseperson / Cook in Kensington, London, UK

£45,000 - £60,000 yearly

Job Description

Daily Houseperson / Cook – Kensington, Central London – permanent, live-out – £45,000 to £60,000 gross per year

A private family in Kensington want a committed, all-round houseperson and cook to join their household full-time on a live-out basis. They do not need a formally trained butler and will consider both junior and senior candidates: what matters is being able to turn your hand to cooking, housekeeping and general support around the home.

You will be part of an established household team, so a proactive, discreet and flexible approach is important, along with the ability to anticipate the family's needs and keep standards high throughout the house.

  • Location: Kensington, Central London
  • Contract: permanent, full-time, live-out
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, about 9am to 6pm, with some flexibility
  • Travel: long periods of international travel with the family are part of the role
  • Salary: £45,000 to £60,000 gross per year, depending on experience

The role

  • Cook fresh, healthy meals with an emphasis on Mediterranean and European food; experience of Spanish, Italian, Portuguese or similar cooking is a real plus
  • Help with general cleaning and the daily housekeeping
  • Lend a hand with general maintenance and practical jobs around the house
  • Work as a team with the existing household staff
  • Keep service, presentation and cleanliness to a consistently high standard
  • Support the family during long spells of international travel
  • Adapt as the household's needs change and help out wherever needed

What the family are looking for

  • Proven experience in private households
  • Strong cooking skills and a real interest in healthy, Mediterranean-style food
  • Professional, dependable and quick to take the initiative
  • Able to work on your own and fit in well with an established team
  • Excellent discretion, presentation and professionalism
  • Fluent English
  • A current UK driving licence
  • A valid passport for international travel (a UK or EU passport preferred) and the right to work in the UK
  • Willingness to take on long periods of international travel
  • A practical, flexible approach and readiness to help in every area of the household

The job would suit a versatile, dedicated houseperson and cook who takes pride in their work and enjoys family household life. Juniors with strong potential and experienced household professionals are equally welcome. The family are looking for someone discreet, trustworthy, adaptable and genuinely keen to help the house run smoothly.
