Live-in Night Companion in Kensington, London, UK

£50,000 - £60,000 yearly

Job Description

Live-in Night Companion – Kensington, London – £50,000 to £60,000 gross per year – immediate start

A private client in Central London is looking for a compassionate, experienced and professional night companion to support a female Principal at her home in Kensington. The household is well established and fully staffed, and the role centres on companionship: being a calm, trusted and reassuring presence through the evening and overnight so that the Principal feels comfortable, well cared for and at ease.

It would suit an emotionally intelligent person who enjoys supporting others and has worked with private clients, UHNW principals or mature individuals in a private home.

  • Location: Kensington, London
  • Hours: full-time, Monday to Friday, 7pm to 7am
  • Start: immediate start available
  • Salary: £50,000 to £60,000 gross per year, depending on experience
  • Contract: PAYE employment, long-term
  • Benefits: workplace pension; 28 days' annual leave including public holidays
  • Accommodation: a spacious double bedroom with its own ensuite in the Principal's home, on working nights only, so you will need a home of your own

The role

  • Keep the Principal company and offer conversation during the evening
  • Be an attentive, reassuring presence through the night
  • Help with her evening and morning routines
  • Assist with everyday practical needs as they come up
  • Make light refreshments or simple meals when asked
  • Do occasional light housekeeping if needed; most housekeeping is handled by the day team, so the focus is on companionship and support
  • Work professionally with the household staff and family members when needed
  • Keep the highest standards of discretion, confidentiality and professionalism

The household team includes two daily housekeepers, a dedicated House Manager and further support staff within the wider family.

What the client is looking for

  • Previous experience as a companion, personal assistant, lifestyle support assistant or private carer, or in a similar private household role
  • A calm, kind and patient character with emotional intelligence
  • Professional, discreet and completely trustworthy
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • A flexible, proactive approach
  • An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to get one
  • Excellent references that can be checked
  • Happy to agree to a strict non-disclosure agreement (NDA)
  • Desirable: Arabic (a real plus, though not essential) and previous experience in UHNW or fully staffed homes
