A wonderful HNW family based in London is seeking an exceptional British Junior Governess to join their household on a long-term basis, supporting the education and development of their two exceptionally bright children, Girl (9) and Boy (6).

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified teacher looking to transition into, or further develop, a career within a private household. The family's current governess is pursuing a different career path, and a comprehensive handover will be provided to ensure a smooth transition.

The family travels extensively throughout the year, including to the Maldives, the United States, the South of France, and other international destinations. The successful candidate will enjoy travel and thrive in a dynamic, internationally mobile environment.

This is a fully staffed household with a private chef, driver and housekeeper, allowing the Governess to focus entirely on the children's education, development and wellbeing.

About the Role

The successful candidate will combine educational excellence with warmth, creativity and genuine enthusiasm for helping children reach their full potential.

Both children are highly intelligent and naturally inquisitive. The family is looking for someone who can confidently challenge them academically by delivering engaging lessons that extend beyond their school curriculum when appropriate, keeping learning stimulating and enjoyable.

Although this is primarily an educational role, the Governess will also provide attentive nanny care outside teaching hours, building a strong and trusting relationship with both children.

Responsibilities

✓ Provide exceptional educational support and guidance

✓ Create engaging lesson plans and educational activities tailored to each child's abilities

✓ Support homework, revision and independent study

✓ Deliver an advanced and stimulating curriculum where appropriate to challenge the children's abilities

✓ Prepare the children for future academic success

✓ Encourage curiosity, confidence, creativity and a genuine love of learning

✓ Plan educational outings and enriching experiences

✓ Provide high-quality nanny care outside academic hours

✓ Accompany the family on extensive international travel

✓ Liaise closely with parents regarding educational progress and developmental goals

Ideal Candidate Profile

✓ Native British candidate (essential)

✓ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

✓ Warm, engaging and naturally inspiring

✓ Confident teaching across multiple primary year groups

✓ Highly organised, proactive and creative

✓ Excellent communicator with outstanding written and spoken English

✓ Calm, positive and emotionally intelligent

✓ Passionate about helping gifted children thrive

✓ Professional, discreet and adaptable

Essential Requirements

✓ British nationality (essential)

✓ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

✓ Minimum 5 years' professional experience

✓ Minimum 2 years' experience working within a private household

✓ Strong homeschooling experience

✓ Experience preparing children for the 7+ entrance process

✓ GCSE and IGCSE teaching experience highly preferred

✓ Previous experience as a live-in Governess or Nanny/Governess

✓ Current Enhanced DBS

✓ Up-to-date Paediatric First Aid

✓ Excellent, checkable references

✓ Willingness to travel extensively internationally
