A warm and informal private family household, located near Kingham between Burford and Stow-on-the-Wold, is seeking an experienced and proactive live-in Domestic Couple to support the smooth day-to-day running of its full-time residence.

This is a varied, hands-on position combining high-standard housekeeping, family-style cooking, household organisation and practical support around the home and estate. The family is looking for a personable, discreet and flexible couple who work well as a team and are seeking a long-term position.

The couple will work five days per week, including weekends, with two consecutive days off together during the week. Flexibility will be required around family life, entertaining and occasional dinner parties.

Housekeeper responsibilities:

Undertaking all hands-on housekeeping, deep cleaning and seasonal cleaning
Laundry, ironing and wardrobe care
Maintaining excellent presentation and organisation throughout the residence
Running errands, including food and personal shopping
Flower arranging and attending to the finer details of the home
Assisting with informal or formal service when the family entertains
Caring for the family’s dog when required
Cook/Houseman responsibilities:

Preparing fresh, healthy and well-presented family-style meals
Menu planning, food shopping and sourcing high-quality seasonal ingredients
Managing kitchen supplies, stock rotation and kitchen organisation
Catering for occasional dinner parties; experience in this area is advantageous
Assisting with service and entertaining when required
Providing practical interior and exterior support around the residence and estate
Undertaking heavy lifting, moving furniture or deliveries and assisting with basic DIY
Supporting tradespeople, accepting deliveries and undertaking occasional driving duties

The precise division of responsibilities may be arranged according to each person’s experience and strengths.

Candidate requirements:

Previous experience working together in a private household, estate, yacht or similarly high-standard environment
Strong hands-on housekeeping experience and a confident family-style cook
Practical, physically capable and willing to assist outside traditional departmental boundaries
Both candidates must be confident drivers with valid driving licences
Discreet, trustworthy, proactive and respectful of professional boundaries
Dog-friendly, with excellent references and the right to work in the UK
Applications are warmly welcomed from established yacht or superyacht couples seeking a permanent, long-term land-based position. Experience as a Yacht Chef, Crew Chef, Stewardess, Steward, Deckhand or Engineer may be highly transferable.

Position details:

Location: Near Kingham, between Burford and Stow-on-the-Wold, Cotswolds
Employment: Permanent, full-time and live-in
Schedule: Five days per week, including weekends, with two consecutive weekdays off together
Hours: Flexible according to the household’s requirements
Salary: £75,000–£80,000 gross per annum combined, depending on experience. Exceptional couples with higher expectations may be presented for consideration.
Accommodation: Separate, self-contained one- or two-bedroom accommodation within the estate courtyard
Pets: One well-behaved small pet may be considered
