The Role

A warm and informal family based in Chagford, Devon, is seeking an experienced, nurturing and genuinely maternal Live-in Nanny to care for their first child, a baby girl who will be approximately four months old when the position begins.

The family is looking for somebody who genuinely loves working with babies and has an excellent understanding of early childhood development. An Early Years background, maternity nanny experience, or extensive professional experience caring for babies would be highly desirable.

The Nanny will provide attentive, engaging and developmentally focused care, supporting the little girl through her changing routines and milestones as she grows. The family would love somebody who takes a genuine interest in each stage of development and can confidently guide and support them through areas such as weaning, introducing solids, developmental play and, later, potty training.

Dad works from home, so the family particularly values somebody emotionally intelligent who can naturally read the room, understanding when to take the lead, when the parents would like to be involved and how to provide support without being intrusive.

The family travels regularly, spending extensive time in London as well as travelling internationally to destinations including Singapore. The Nanny should therefore be comfortable travelling with the family when required. As a multicultural family, they would particularly appreciate somebody culturally sensitive and ideally experienced working with families from different cultural backgrounds.

The household is informal and is not fully staffed, although cleaners and gardeners attend several days per week. The family also has a small terrier.

A driver is preferred, and the family can provide a car for use while working. The family would like their chosen candidate to complete a minimum two-day trial before commencing the position.
