Happy Nest Nanny & Maternity Agency are delighted to be supporting a professional family in Lowton, Greater Manchester, with their search for an experienced and highly organised Nanny Housekeeper / Family Assistant.
This is a varied, long-term position combining attentive childcare with household management, family organisation and pet care. The family are looking for someone warm, dependable and proactive who will provide a nurturing environment for their three-year-old son while also helping the household run smoothly.
The little boy is happy and active and enjoys animals, trips to the zoo, swimming, playing and exploring. The successful candidate should enjoy planning engaging, age-appropriate activities and supporting his ongoing learning and development.
Both parents have busy professional careers and divide their working time between home and the workplace. They are therefore looking for someone trustworthy and confident who can take responsibility for the child’s daily routine and use their initiative when managing household duties.
The successful candidate's primary responsibility will always be the wellbeing, development and care of their son. Household duties should be completed during nursery/school hours and should never compromise the childcare. Their son is with them on a 50/50 rota so this is reflected on less hours the week he isn’t there.
Nanny Duties
Managing the child’s morning routine and preparing him for the day
Completing nursery or school drop-offs and collections
Organising and accompanying him to activities, playdates and outings
Planning creative, educational and age-appropriate activities
Supporting early learning, reading and any homework as he gets older
Preparing healthy meals, snacks and drinks
Maintaining consistent routines,
Keeping the child’s bedroom, play areas, toys and belongings organised
Managing the child’s laundry, ironing and wardrobe
Ensuring the child is safe, happy and engaged throughout the day
monitoring developmental milestones
encouraging independence
supporting speech and language development
encouraging good manners and social skills
outdoor play every day where practical
limiting screen time
liaising with nursery/school regarding progress
administering medication with parental consent
attending GP/dentist appointments where required
recognising illness and communicating concerns promptly
Housekeeping and Family Support
During nursery or school hours, the role will include responsibility for keeping the family home organised and running smoothly. Duties will include:
General family housekeeping and light cleaning
Laundry and ironing
Tidying and organising bedrooms, living areas and shared family spaces
Meal planning and cooking for the household, as required
Food shopping and managing online grocery orders
Running household errands, including returns and dry-cleaning
Handling post and straightforward household administration
Assisting with family scheduling and general organisation
Monitoring household supplies and replenishing items when needed

children's clothing shopping
Preparing for family travel
The family have two dogs, so the nanny must be confident and comfortable around larger and energetic breeds. Pet-related responsibilities will include:
Walking both dogs
Assisting with veterinary and grooming appointments
feeding
letting them into the garden
basic care while parents are away during the day
The Ideal Candidate will be

Experienced in a similar nanny housekeeper or family assistant position
Highly organised, reliable and punctual
Proactive and confident using their initiative
Comfortable balancing childcare and household responsibilities
A capable and confident cook who can prepare healthy family meals
Happy to work in a home with two dogs
A confident driver with a full driving licence
Discreet, trustworthy and respectful of family privacy
Looking for a stable and rewarding long-term position
Occasional flexibility to work outside standard hours by prior agreement would be appreciated.

They will be an excellent communicator who is adaptable, dependable and confident working autonomously, while always using their initiative and sound judgement.
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet all of the usual Happy Nest Nanny & Maternity Agency criteria, which include:
A minimum of 5 years professional experience, ideally within private homes
Experience caring for children of a similar age
A full clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work
A current Enhanced DBS Certificate on the update service (or willing to apply)
A valid Paediatric First Aid certificate
Excellent, checkable references from previous childcare roles
Confident, reliable and flexible, with a proactive approach and calm, nurturing manner
