A German-Swiss family based in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced French- or German-speaking Nanny / Governess to join their household. This is a long-term, predominantly live-out position starting on 1 October 2026, or earlier for the right candidate.

The role will initially focus on the family’s 3.5-year-old daughter, who attends school, while also preparing for the arrival of a newborn expected at the end of January 2027.

Children

One girl aged 3.5 years, attending school in Abu Dhabi.
One newborn expected at the end of January 2027.

Working Hours

45–50 hours per week.
Flexibility will be required.
Occasional evening babysitting.
Occasional weekend support.
International travel with the family.
Any additional hours will be paid separately.

Salary

USD 51,000 tax-free per year.
Approximately USD 981 tax-free per week.
Equivalent to approximately USD 19.60–USD 21.80 per hour, based on 45–50 hours per week.
The position will be offered under a UAE employment contract, including all applicable statutory benefits.

Start Date

1 October 2026.
An earlier start may be considered for the right candidate.

Pets

The family has a friendly dog.
The candidate must be comfortable with dogs and willing to assist regularly with dog walking and basic pet care.

Role Overview

The Nanny / Governess will initially be responsible for the daily care, education and development of the family’s 3.5-year-old daughter.

The candidate will plan structured educational programmes, support the child’s French or German language development and organise age-appropriate learning activities around her school schedule.

Following the arrival of the newborn, the role will also include newborn care and support with feeding, sleeping and developmental routines.

Main Responsibilities

Provide attentive and developmentally appropriate care.
Create a safe, structured and nurturing environment.
Support the children’s education, routines and development.
Plan activities independently.
Communicate clearly with the parents.
Work flexibly around the family’s schedule.
Travel internationally with the family when required.

Governess Duties – 3.5-Year-Old

Plan weekly educational programmes in advance.
Prepare activities while the child is at school.
Organise age-appropriate learning activities.
Organise creative projects.
Encourage early literacy and numeracy.
Support French or German language development.
Encourage a love of reading through daily reading sessions.
Assist with homework and school projects.
Support school preparation.
Encourage independence.
Develop good organisational habits.
Support confidence and curiosity.
Encourage good manners and social skills.

Newborn Duties

Support feeding routines.
Support age-appropriate sleeping routines.
Monitor and support developmental milestones.
Maintain an organised nursery.
Prepare bottles when required.
Prepare age-appropriate food when required.
Sterilise bottles and feeding equipment.
Ensure all newborn equipment is clean and ready for use.

Child-Related Housekeeping

Organise the children’s wardrobes.
Organise toys, books and educational materials.
Prepare the children’s bags for school, outings and travel.
Prepare healthy meals and snacks daily.
Keep the children’s bedrooms, nursery and play areas clean and organised.
Maintain the children’s belongings and equipment.
No deep cleaning is required.
No children’s laundry is required.

Pet-Related Duties

Assist with regular dog walks.
Provide basic pet care when required.

Requirements

Minimum five years of professional nanny or governess experience.
Strong experience with preschool-aged children.
Proven professional newborn experience.
Native or near-native French or German.
English is optional.
Strong understanding of early childhood development.
Able to organise educational activities and learning programmes independently.
Confident supporting homework and school preparation.
Previous private household experience preferred.
Available to travel internationally.
A valid driving licence is essential.
Confident driving in Abu Dhabi.
Must be comfortable with dogs.
Calm, patient and nurturing.
Highly organised and proactive.
Professional and discreet.
Flexible regarding working hours and family travel.
Excellent communication skills.
Paediatric First Aid certification preferred.
A valid police clearance, DBS check or equivalent is required.

Accommodation

This is a predominantly live-out position.
During the initial settling-in period, private accommodation with a bedroom and bathroom will be provided by the family, with all accommodation costs covered.
After the settling-in period, the family will assist the successful candidate in finding a suitable studio in Abu Dhabi.
