Schedule: Monday–Friday, 24/5 initially
Salary: €55,000–€70,000 gross per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
Accommodation: Private bedroom with en-suite bathroom
Contract: Permanent, long-term
Languages: Fluent English or German; both highly desirable

The Role

A warm professional family is seeking an experienced live-in Maternity Nanny/Career Nanny for their first child, due in mid-November 2026. The family is looking for someone nurturing, knowledgeable and committed to becoming a valued part of their household over several years. The family are planning to have more children and would love a nanny who could then take care of the sibling as well.

The position will begin in Cincinnati, Ohio, where the family will spend approximately three to five months for the birth and early postpartum period. The role will then relocate permanently to Berlin, Germany.

The nanny will initially work Monday to Friday on a 24-hour live-in basis, with weekends covered by the parents or a secondary nanny. Mum will be present until 1 March, after which the nanny will assume greater sole-charge responsibility during the week.

The schedule will evolve once the baby reaches approximately six months of age. When the child begins attending Kita after the first year, the nanny will have free time during nursery hours while continuing to provide wraparound care.

Responsibilities

  • Providing attentive, nurturing care for the baby from birth
  • Supporting the family throughout the newborn and early postpartum period
  • Establishing age-appropriate feeding, sleeping and daily routines
  • Supporting sleep training in accordance with the parents’ preferred approach
  • Monitoring the baby’s development, wellbeing and changing needs
  • Planning age-appropriate sensory play and developmental activities
  • Supporting early communication and language development
  • Preparing and sterilising bottles and feeding equipment
  • Maintaining the baby’s nursery, clothing and belongings
  • Accompanying the baby to appointments, activities and outings
  • Communicating openly with the parents regarding routines, development and milestones
  • Providing sole-charge care during the working week
  • Travelling internationally with the family when required
  • Working collaboratively with the weekend nanny and other family support

Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum of five years’ professional nanny experience
  • Extensive newborn and infant-care experience
  • Maternity Nanny experience or a relevant maternity qualification preferred
  • Proven sole-charge experience within private households
  • A genuine interest in making a long-term commitment to one family
  • Strong knowledge of newborn routines, sleep, sensory development and early learning
  • Fluent English or German; fluency in both would be highly advantageous
  • Full driving licence
  • Comfortable with international travel and different cultures
  • Appropriate eligibility to work in both Germany and the USA
  • Non-smoker
  • Discreet, professional, adaptable and emotionally warm

Travel and Accommodation

The family will be based approximately 90% of the time in Germany, with international travel accounting for around 10% of the role and ordinarily lasting no longer than two weeks at a time.

A private bedroom with an en-suite bathroom will be provided in both Cincinnati and Berlin. All work-related travel expenses will be fully covered by the family.

  • €55,000–€70,000 gross per annum (Salary dependent on experience and qualifications)
