Position Overview
A private household in the Geneva area is seeking a discreet, reliable and highly experienced live-in staff member to provide broad day-to-day support across childcare, household organisation and the care of the family’s dogs.
The role requires someone mature, adaptable and hands-on, with the judgement to work in a private family environment while maintaining absolute discretion. The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between practical household tasks, structured support for a young child and attentive dog care.

Key Responsabilities

Childcare
  • Provide attentive daily care for a pre-school child.
  • Support morning and evening routines, including dressing, hygiene and preparation for the day.
  • Prepare simple meals and snacks for the child.
  • Accompany the child to and from school, activities and appointments as required.
  • Organise age-appropriate play, reading and developmental activities.
  • Take care of the child’s laundry and help keep the child’s spaces tidy and organised.
Household Support & Coordination
  • Assist with light housekeeping and general household order when needed.
  • Keep key living areas, including the kitchen, clean and well-maintained during working hours.
  • Support the smooth running of the household, including preparation before guests or family events.
  • Liaise with household service providers and contractors when requested.
  • Help monitor household supplies and flag practical needs in advance.
  • Take initiative to ensure the home remains organised, calm and well functioning.
Dog Care
  • Follow established routines carefully, including feeding instructions, exercise needs, rest periods and household boundaries.
  • Handle the dogs calmly and confidently in and around the home, on walks and during transitions.
  • Notice and communicate any changes in appetite, behaviour, health, energy level or general wellbeing.
  • Provide responsible care during family absences, ensuring the dogs remain settled, secure and properly supervised.
 
Working Schedule
  • Live-in role with a regular schedule including weekend coverage.
  • Typical working pattern to be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
  • Flexibility is required, particularly during family travel periods, occasional evenings or when household needs change.
  • Time off will be organised in accordance with Swiss employment regulations and the agreed schedule.

Candidate Profile
  • Proven experience in a private household, ideally in a blended role involving childcare, household support and household coordination.
  • Strong childcare experience with young children and the ability to support routines calmly and reliably.
  • Genuine hands-on dog-care experience, preferably in a private household or with regular responsibility for dogs beyond basic walking.
  • Good understanding of canine behaviour, confidence in handling dogs, and the ability to remain calm, observant and consistent.
  • Fluent French required, with good working English.
  • Valid driving licence mandatory.
  • Legal authorisation to work in Switzerland.
  • Highly discreet, trustworthy and respectful of confidentiality.
  • Organised, proactive and solution-oriented.
  • Flexible and comfortable working in a role where priorities may change from day to day.
