91474R: Live-in Housekeeper in Eastern Switzerland

On behalf of our private client, a very lovely family based in a lovely village in Eastern Switzerland (Canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden), we are looking for a Live-in Housekeeper to support with their household and their two children, a Boy and a Girl, who will be 10 and 12 years old next year.

The family lives in a modern, spacious mansion with large garden and pool in a private residential area.

The family have had Au Pairs for the past eight years and are now seeking a child friendly Live-in Housekeeper who can stay long term. This is a Housekeeper role that requires someone who is also child friendly and can assist with the children who are independent.  A Housekeeper is already employed at the property therefore a team player is a must.

The ideal Housekeeper will be responsible, organised, and proactive, with excellent housekeeping skills and ideally with Native level English language skills to speak English with the children (the children speak German and English; both parents also speak some Italian, French and Spanish).

Driving is a bonus but not essential and the Housekeeper must hold relevant paperwork for employment in Switzerland, i.e. have EU/EFTA citizenship [without it it’s impossible in the canton]

Working hours/schedule: ca. 42-45 hours per week, Monday to Saturday [it’s more than 40 hours, because they get a lot of vacation]

Monday-Friday: ca. 7:00AM–1:00PM and 5:00PM–7:00PM & Saturday: ca. 9:00AM–12:00PM

Duties include:

• Morning routine: getting the children ready for school (they walk 1.2 km to school independently)
• Evening routine: eat dinner with the children, get them ready for the evening

Housekeeping:

• Organising and cleaning the children’s floor
• Assisting children with some homework/ Engaging with children through play
• Preparing snacks for the children
• Occasional babysitting on evenings
• Tidying and organising the main floor, especially the kitchen
• Vacuuming the house
• Laundry for the family
• Feeding the rabbits
• Running errands as required
• Assisting with household organisation and supporting the family rhythm

Salary: CHF 66,000 gross per year   (negotiable for the right candidate)

Accommodation: Separate flat offered to share with another Housekeeper. Accommodation plus food amount to the usual Swiss deduction of CHF 990 per month.

Holidays: ca. 8-10 weeks per year (family travels without the nanny)

Start: April 2026 

Unless otherwise specified a minimum of 2 years relevant experience is required to receive the advertised rate of pay
