This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, developing organisation. We are recruiting for our client based in Burton on Trent. This Home is currently going through the registration process.

We are seeking an experienced Registered Manager with a proven track record of achieving "good" or "outstanding" Ofsted gradings, or an experienced Deputy Manager looking for the next step in their career.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual, who is ready to take the next step in their career and shape this Home to achieve the best possible outcomes for the children living here.

A QCF Level 5 Diploma is desirable, however if the right candidate holds a QCF Level 3/4 equivalent, we will sponsor them to achieve the Level 5 qualification.

*MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:*

To be responsible for effective day to day running of the residential home, to be responsible for a team of staff and work allocations, as well as undertaking direct work with children in the residential home when necessary. To be responsible for all aspects of the residential premises, including managing referrals, finances all whilst complying with Ofsted Children’s Home Regulations.

*KEY RESPONSIBILITIES*
* To manage the home in regulatory compliance with OFSTED regulations, legislation, and the ethos and policies of the company.
* To protect the children from harm in and outside the home.
* To act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Home, and ensure that any safeguarding concerns are raised in the appropriate manner, and in a timely fashion.
* To ensure that the children’s needs are recognised and met. This includes ensuring that they are free from discrimination within the home and to challenge discrimination from outside the home.
* To oversee and participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of the individual child’s care plans.
* To ensure that all services are planned, and delivered in a way that maximises participation and reflects children’s rights in relation to services being provided.

* To use the home as a model to support and develop the social skills of the children.
* To ensure that the home provides an environment that is safe and sensitive to the needs of children being looked after.
* To maintain a good understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
* To deliver highly motivated leadership and development to the team for which you are responsible.
* To develop and maintain good working relationships with parents, social workers, schools and other professionals concerned with the welfare of the children.
* To be involved in the safe recruitment of staff.

* To ensure that staff complete the mandatory and recommended training as set by the company and to provide house-based training as needed.
* To be involved in the support, monitoring and, where necessary, the disciplinary of staff.
* Ensure clear, consistent and professional record keeping, including audit and supervision.
* To maintain good communication systems, including handovers, staff meetings, log books and regular meetings with the Heads/Directors or their representatives.
* To fully participate in the organisational quality assurance systems providing regular reports and updates to the Operations Manager and/or Directors.
* To attend weekly Home Management Meetings each Monday (or at a time set by your line manager);
* To attend monthly company Business Development Meetings, on the first Wednesday of each calendar month (or at a date/time set by your line manager);
* To participate in the companies ‘On Call’ system, and to produce monthly on-call rota’s, and circulate these as required.
* Work in partnership with other professionals and agencies, and develop and maintain a positive public relations image for the whole trust.
* To participate in any meetings as directed by your Line Manager, be these related to your Home or the Organisation.
* To annually review and update all policies and documents related to the Home (including those with a regulatory requirement and those that are personal to the organisation).

* Ensure the home is Ofsted ready at all times, and prepare to respond to all requirements

*GENERAL*
* To attend meetings and training as required, and ensure that these are both minuted and filed.
* To share the responsibility for creating a pleasant working environment.
* To be flexible in hours of work in order to meet tasks required.
* To be aware of Health and Safety regulations particularly as related to the upkeep of the office building and its surroundings.
* To undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested by the Responsible Individual/Directors of the company.

* To be concerned for the welfare of the staff offering support at times of stress, praising work completed and monitoring performance including sickness absence.
* Maintain personal and professional development

*Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s):*

As part of the role of Registered Manager of your allocated Home, the following KPI’s are a minimal requirement of this post:
* Be present at any Ofsted visit/inspection UNLESS you are out of the country. If you are on annual leave, your leave will be immediately suspended and you will be required to report for work as normal;
* To fully engage with the Reg 44 Independent Visitor process, and ensure that any recommendations/actions are fully complete within 28 calendar days from the date of the visit;
* To fully engage with the Responsible Individual Home Audit, and ensure that any actions are complete within 28 days from the date of the visit (unless specified otherwise within the report);
* To complete bi-annual Reg 45 Quality of Care reports, and submit within the prescribed timeframes to Ofsted.
* To complete monthly reports and audits as prescribed by the Operations Manager, and submit within agreed timeframes.
* To maintain oversight of the Home’s functions and ensure that there are regular Registered Manager audits taking place (e.g. car checks, home maintenance checks).

* To ensure that the Home achieves, and maintains, an Ofsted grade of “good” or “outstanding" at all inspections.

* To operate the Home within the budgetary constraints as agreed with the Operations Manager, and participate in annual finance reviews of the Home.

* To ensure all supervisions and appraisals are completed within agreed timeframes.
* To ensure all completed paperwork is audited, as a minimum, on a monthly basis.
