The family own a lovely Georgian Farmhouse in Norfolk, NR21 and are looking for a new Domestic Couple to join them. Their current Domestic Couple has been with them for 3 years and are only leaving due to retirement. They are looking for a new, long term Domestic Couple who can fit in well with their family. The main property is a 5-bedroom Georgian Farmhouse, and on the grounds, there is also a 2-bedroom guest cottage and a 1 bedroom converted barn, as well as various out-buildings and an outdoor swimming pool. The family are happy for the Domestic Couple to use the guest cottage for their own guests occasionally. The family have 2 small dogs (Jack Russels), 1 cat and chickens. They have 3 grown up children who come and go often. The principals spend about 50% of their time on the estate in Norfolk and the rest of their time in their property in London. The family host private events in the farmhouse for small groups of guests, which are focused on creative arts and craft activities.
Duties can be shared accordingly to skills. The family are looking for a couple to help both inside and outside the house, with one concentrating on the housekeeping of the main property and the guest cottage and the other concentrating on the grounds and gardening.
The housekeeping will include deep cleaning and daily cleaning, laundry and ironing. Ensuring that the house is kept clean to the highest standards at all times – you should have great attention to detail and experience in housekeeping in large households. Running errands and shopping for cleaning supplies and food. Occasionally assisting with cooking – the mother loves to cook so you don’t need to be a great cook but you should be confident enough to help her out and prepare basic meals. Setting the table and preparing the house and guest cottage for guests and events and parties.
The family are looking for someone who is a keen gardener and has experience in the development and maintenance of gardens. They would like someone who can bring with them new ideas to develop their beautiful garden. They have 10 acres in total: a formal garden, woodland, meadow, a veg garden and a 5 acre field. You should have an eye for detail and a passion for gardening. You should be knowledgeable about plants and be able to look after the flower beds and private garden areas, as well as doing general maintenance. The maintenance of the grounds involves mowing, pruning, strimming, weeding, watering, hedge trimming, and cleaning and maintaining the outdoor pool. They have chickens who will need feeding and looking after. Some DIY and maintenance of the property and indoor areas when required. Some driving duties, running errands and picking up shopping. You should be happy to be around animals and be able to take the dogs for walks in the countryside.
The estate is near Fakenham, Norfolk, NR21. You will be provided with accommodation on the grounds, which is a recently converted 1-bedroom barn. The family will not be considering applicants who need to bring pets with them due to them having their own pets.
You will be working 5 days per week with 2 full days off. Work will include some weekends, depending on the family’s schedule. You will work 40 hours per week and the family are happy for you to be flexible in your start and finish times.
A good level of English is required.
You should have experience of working in large private households and be dedicated and reliable. At least one of you should have a full driving licence for this role.
The family are looking for someone to start at the end of September and are starting interviews now. We are recruiting safely within the COVID-19 regulations.
