Looking for an empathetic, flexible nanny who has experience in Reggio, RIE/Pikler and a good understanding of the Visible Child lens of respectful parenting (see Facebook group Visible Child: Respectful/Mindful Parenting). Ideally inspired by RIE/Pikler and is able to see the world through a child development lens (Visible Child), particularly when it comes to behaviour. Someone who is respectful, engaging and supports child-led learning, but has clear, consistent and respectful boundaries. Someone who is open to discussing and reflecting with the parents, about how behaviour and learning is managed within their role. Qualifications in early child development, RIE/Pikler are also desirable.
The role is for a nanny share between two families located in London Bridge and Dulwich (and eventually between Dulwich and Herne Hill).
Family 1: a girl 3.5 years old (and 6 year old boy who will be at school from September), and family 2: boys aged 3 years and 5 months old (the children are cousins). On some days you may be required to collect the boy from school (The New School – a democratic school in Upper Norwood).
Monday-Thursday, with some babysitting, as and when required (notice will be given and paid in addition to salary),
7.45am – 5.45pm,
Sole charge (parents from both families work from home and the mother of family 2 is on maternity leave at the moment so there will be a gradual transition into having the baby as well as the 3 year old),
Located in SE1 (London Bridge) and SE24 (Dulwich). Family 1 based in London Bridge will be relocating to Herne Hill late this year or early next.
Family 1: Has 1 day of the split in London Bridge (1 child during term-time, with a pick-up, 2 children during holidays)
Family 2: Has 2 days of the split in Dulwich (2 children)
And for the last day, you will be looking after 3 children in either London Bridge or Dulwich.
However the ideal nanny will be flexible with days and number of children, although this will usually stay the same during term time it may vary during school holidays.
All general nursery duties.
Engage the children in a day of learning through play, in a child centred nurturing environment.
Spend time reading and 'problem solving' with the children.
Cook healthy nutritional meals for the children, avoiding gluten and dairy, one Mum is a nutritional therapist and will be happy to support you with this. The family follows Ellyn Satter's division of responsibility feeding model.
There is a hazelnut allergy present within the family.
If needed, a car could be provided for use while on duty, parking may be available at the house for your own vehicle, with a permit.
Potential travel for an occasional family holiday but nothing is planned.
