Job Summary:

 

This lovely family whom we have worked with previously has had the same nanny for just over 2 years since their little one was 11 months. Unfortunately, she is now relocating to Cornwall, and so will be leaving them.

 

The family is also due their second baby in mid-April and is looking for a nanny who can initially take primary responsibility for their eldest son (and for their new baby, once maternity/ paternity leave ends and they go back to work. Mum and Dad value a nanny and think that the one-on-one care a nanny can provide combined with local playgroup and other social activities gives the perfect balance for a young child.

 

In January 2025 (and possibly before) mum and dad will both be back at work so they would expect the nanny to then take on full responsibility for the second child (at this stage, they expect their son will be in full-time nursery from 9 am-3 pm with school starting September 2025). From April 2024, during the mornings that their son is at nursery (i.e. three mornings per week), they would expect the nanny to help with the newborn baby or other small jobs.

 

Mum and dad are ideally looking for someone well versed in the Gina Ford method and places importance on routine, structure, and an educational approach to parenting, however, if you are not familiar with Gina Ford then an appreciation for disciplined structure and routine, and willingness to implement this is great.

 

They follow a routine as they think that is the best thing for their child and would expect their nanny to follow a routine. The duties will include taking the little one to museums and lots of fresh air and activities. The family would like their nanny to be part of their family for a long time. They have no pets and no allergies. They also have a cleaner who comes twice per week.

 

 

 General duties:

 

  • Structured and Routine Approach
  • Feeding the eldest healthy, homecooked meals (the family lives 5 minutes from a butcher, greengrocer, and fishmonger who all know them and their son well)
  • Reading with him and educating him (numbers, letters, etc.) – learning and education are very important to them.
  • Taking the eldest to nursery (he is starting later this month – mornings only, three days per week), picking him up, preparing his 5 pm meal, afternoon activities, and so forth.
  • Sole charge and shared charge of the baby and the 3-year-old
  • Cooking – Tidying up light household duties
  • Make fresh meals for the baby and the family
  • Stimulate the children educationally, taking them to museums and outdoorsy activities
  • Taking the baby to baby classes and play dates

 

 

Candidate requirements:

  • A DBS check is required at offer stage & and a current First Aid Certificate
  • Ideally some experience with Gina Ford’s method and or an appreciation for structure and the implementation of routine
  • Fluent English is required, and a second language is welcomed!
  • Must have carried out the same role previously
  • Must have a can-do attitude and be willing to muck in
  • New-born experience and experience working with 2 children
  • Creative with proactive with ideas (e.g. a trip in the afternoon or a particular book he might enjoy baking or drawing etc).
