Job Description

The BUILD (Baccalaureate for University of Indianapolis Learning Disabled) department at the University of Indianapolis is seeking applicants for a BUILD Tutor. The BUILD Tutor provides academic support to University students with learning disabilities.

This is a part-time, hourly, temporary position with no benefits. Filling multiple positions to begin on [DATE].

Responsibilities

  • Follows the guidance and direction of supervisor(s)
  • Demonstrates respectful, ethical, responsible behavior
  • Abides by the University's policies, procedures, and rules
  • Performs employee responsibilities as detailed in employee handbooks and policies
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance and punctuality
  • Provides structured, scheduled tutoring sessions to students
  • Keeps documentation on each session with students
  • Communicates weekly with Director on student progress or concerns
  • Increases knowledge and understanding of learning disabilities and academic strategies to better support students
  • Attends staff meetings and special events of BUILD
  • Monitors, reads, and scribes assigned exams
  • Completes other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned
  • Uses computers and related technology efficiently


Qualifications

  • Experience working with college-aged students with learning disabilities is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Must have the knowledge and ability to use computers and related technology efficiently
  • Good organizational skills are required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Must be able to think outside of the box to come up with learning solutions
