Private In-Home Tutor

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Tutor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and helping students achieve their academic goals. This role involves working with students of various ages, including children and adults. This job will require commuting to students' homes or other public spaces like libraries and coffee shops for in-person instruction. Tutor will need to have a valid drivers license. Applicants in the Fremont, Union City, and Newark area are highly preferred. Tutors are compensated both for class and commute times.

Duties

• Assess individual student needs and develop tailored lesson plans to meet their learning objectives.
• Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions in various subjects, ensuring clarity and understanding.
• Support students with special education needs by adapting teaching methods accordingly.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other educational professionals to track student progress and adjust strategies as necessary.
• Engage in curriculum development to create effective teaching materials that align with educational standards.
• Maintain a positive, encouraging atmosphere that promotes student confidence and motivation.

Experience

• A minimum of one year of tutoring or teaching experience.
• Experience in special education is highly desirable, along with knowledge of classroom management techniques.
• Proficiency in utilizing learning technology to facilitate effective teaching methods.
• A background in the FUSD curriculum development is a plus, showcasing the ability to create engaging educational content.
• Familiarity with common FUSD textbooks such as Big Ideas Algebra, Big Ideas Geometry, Springboard Math.
• Experience coaching young students for essay writing and ELA ( English Language Arts).

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 – 15 per week
