Job Description

The well-established Expert Tutoring Center seeks an experienced teacher who is comfortable with advanced math and English. We are looking to hire and train a few tutors in the coming weeks as we prepare for the summer, with at least 20 hours available immediately. The position can grow into a full-time status depending on compatibility and feedback.

Requirements include :

  • Experienced in teaching groups and private one-to-one classes.
  • Have knowledge about teaching ACT, SAT, and SAT Subject Test Math.
  • Know high school math up to the Algebra II level.
  • Know about tracking students' programs.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment such as copiers, printers, and office phones
  • Knowledge of tablet computers is preferred.
  • Must display an understanding of educational methods and current testing standards.
  • Have a passion for mentoring adolescents.
  • Two or more years of teaching experience.
  • Able to teach advanced placement English subjects or high-level English.
  • Bachelor's degree (or at least 4th-year college student).
  • Job Type: Part-time - 20 hours or more. Contractual position.
  • Salary: $21.00 to $25.00 /hour

Essential Job Duties:

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Expert Tutoring tutor is responsible for creating a positive personal learning experience by teaching students using Expert Tutoring program materials. The teacher creates balanced and robust student learning experiences using the program materials. The tutor evaluates student progress on each assignment, communicates this progress, and works with Center staff to ensure learning is personal for each student. Our goal is to become mentors for our students by building positive relationships that encourage them to find personal motivation for academic and extracurricular interests. We hope to find a committed tutor to join our friendly and outgoing team. Training and curriculum material will be provided. Serious applicants only, please.   • Prepares for each instructional session; Gathers and prepares materials as appropriate
  • .Greets students and initiates instruction to engage each student personally
  • .Instruct students according to the design of the TFS programs
  • Manages students, tasks, and time to create a balanced and robust instructional session
  • Evaluate and record the progress of each student on their program assignment
  • Uses praise and encouragement to ensure students are engaged and inspired to learn
  • Motivates students with a TFS reward program given for specific achievements according to the TFS instructional standards
  • Supports procedures to ensure student safety and well-being
  • Communicates particular student needs to Center staff
  • Attends periodic staff meetings and completes ongoing training as required

Job Type: Contract

Pay: From $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
