A hardworking and loving family in Portland, OR is seeking a proactive and fun-loving family assistant/nanny to help care for their son and home!
Location: Portland, OR
Ages of children: 3.5 years old
Start date/Contract dates: As soon as they find the perfect fit!
Schedule: Full-time, guaranteeing 40 hours per week with the general schedule falling on Tuesday through Friday from 12pm to 8pm and Saturdays from 7am to 3pm or similar.
Compensation: The family is offering $35-40/hour based on the 40-hour/week schedule, which equates to an annualized base compensation of $73-83k/year dependent on experience and the agreed-upon schedule. The family may be open to candidates who are seeking a higher compensation package commensurate with experience.
Benefits: The family is open to providing benefits including paid time off, paid holidays, a health insurance stipend, and relocation assistance based on candidate need and the full benefits package. The family will provide a vehicle for professional use.
Live-in/Live-out: Live-out. The family is open to providing a temporary landing pad within their home for the perfect relocation candidate.
Household dynamic:
These organized and outdoor-loving parents are thrilled to welcome a supportive family assistant/nanny into their lives! At 3.5 years old, their son attends a local Montessori school and outside of school hours, he loves to play with trains, trucks, magna-tiles, and his marble run. This family also prioritizes time outside the house with visits to parks, playdates, restaurants, and adventures to the coast, mountains, or local forest. They are looking forward to the summer months so they can enjoy swimming in the lake near their family’s cabin. Their son has a severe food allergy, so a candidate who can keep a close eye on food reactions and use an EpiPen if needed is very important.
Their home is described as being very loving and intentional. Cuddles and being supportive of their son’s curious nature are big parts of their daily lives. These dual-career parents primarily work outside the home and look forward to collaborating with a take-charge candidate who can ensure that household tasks and responsibilities happen without direct supervision.
Travel is not a big part of this role, but if a candidate is open to traveling occasionally with the family in the future, they will appreciate it.
Ideal candidate:
This position is ideal for someone with an extroverted personality and a can-do attitude who enjoys family assisting tasks and likes to keep up with a busy preschooler! Someone who can take initiative and help keep the household running smoothly will be valued. When it comes to childcare, a candidate who is validating of emotions and who offers choices within firm boundaries will be a great fit for this role.
Responsibilities include creating a safe and loving environment for the child to grow and thrive! Childcare responsibilities include driving to/from activities, nurturing the child’s interests, communicating with parents, and child-related meal prep. Family assisting responsibilities include meal planning, grocery shopping, meal prep, laundry, household tidying, calendar management, and overall pitching in where needed!
While not a requirement for this role, the family would enjoy working with a candidate who has a knowledge of Montessori philosophy, enjoys swimming, or is open to occasionally preparing simple and healthy meals for the whole family.
Qualifications:
3 years of professional childcare experience
Valid driver’s license
Knowledge and experience with preschoolers and the associated age-appropriate developmental milestones
Willing to provide healthy child-related meal prep
Comfortable using an EpiPen (the family is happy to train on this!)
