[2229] Part time nanny required for sweet 15 month old

  • Holgate Nannies
  • Schilde, Belgium
Part time Nanny

Job Description

Start date: October 2022 (flexible)

Working Hours: The role is 2 days a week, 8 hours per day (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday the family are flexible) or the family are happy to offer a maximum of 20 hours over five days.

Job summary: A caring, dedicated family in Belgium seeks the help of a nanny 2 days per week to care for their 15 month old daughter. The family live in a village outside Antwerp, the mother is Swiss French, and the father is Dutch. Someone with a good grasp of the Dutch language is preferred to help their daughter prepare for Dutch school (children go to school earlier in Belgium, around age 3).

The role is live out, part time and shared care. The mother will be at home during the nanny's working days. The ideal candidate is someone who can commit long term in order to form a bond with both their daughter and family. They are a friendly, open, yet private family so someone who is discreet, calm and caring would be an ideal addition to the family. The family believe in open communication and clear boundaries.

Their 15 month old daughter is a very sweet, very strong willed, and curious little girl. She is brave and adventurous and looking for lots of creative indoor activities to aid her development and discovery. The family incorporates the Montessori philosophy, so experience or interest in these methods is a bonus. The family are currently implementing baby led weaning, experimentation with new foods, and lots of independent, practical life activities.

Duties: The family is looking for someone who is gentle and encouraging who can speak to their daughter on her level, stepping into her shoes to empathise with her age and developmental level. They would also like their nanny to structure the day with routine and repetition in readiness for school life. Alongside the mother, you will help to guide the day's schedule, plan at home activities (including sensory and creative activities), encourage potty training, take their daughter into the garden to play, and perhaps go for walks.

The role involves light child related nursery duties, preparing healthy, simple (organic) snacks, folding and tidying up after the child and helping with the child's laundry (which she loves to help with!)

Experience and qualifications required: Experience with Montessori is a bonus. The family do not use screen time for their daughter. Baby experience is great, but not a requirement.

Skills required: Dutch language is a bonus. Driving would be ideal as the family are not located in the city centre. Public transport is a possibility.
