A family based in central London seeks a French-language career governess and educator to work with their 3 sons aged 9, 7, and 5. The boys speak English fluently and French at an intermediate level. Their French-speaking and listening are good, but their reading and writing need some attention. They enjoy learning and are keen to improve their French language skills.
Time will be spent working with the students after school during the week, plus ideally one weekend day. The family would therefore like the governess to liaise with their school and tutors to ensure that good academic progress is made. The boys are active and busy during the week, so the ideal governess will be an active and healthy individual who will be able to keep up with them and encourage them to live a healthy lifestyle.
At weekends the governess will help the charges catch up with their homework and will have time to arrange some more educational activities that will be fun and stimulating to enjoy together.
This is a live-out position in London, and a separate room is provided for the governess when traveling. A room is available in the house in London if the governess would like to live in.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience working in a governess position, will be easy-going and flexible, and open to working with the family on a long-term basis. Good references from previous positions are essential. The boys are well-behaved and polite but the family would still like the governess to encourage proper behaviour and etiquette as they get older. The family is friendly and flexible, and well-motivated to provide their sons with a stable and long-term governess/ mentor.
When the family travel they would like the governess to accompany them, so an active and adventurous nature is key for this role. The family tends to spend summers traveling in France, Italy, and Turkey.
No cooking or cleaning is required in this role. There is also a Turkish nanny in the house and the family is open to working with an English governess in addition to French to provide a long-term educational team for the charges.
The candidate should be a good role model ready to make a long-term working commitment. Graduate education and teaching qualifications are preferred.
