A lovely family residing near St Andrews in Scotland is seeking an experienced nanny/housekeeper to assist them in the care and daily running of their household over the extended weekend period. The family have two sons, the eldest aged 4 and the youngest aged 2. Their youngest son has cerebral palsy and requires additional care, however the role is mostly a shared care role to assist the parents with the children and or household duties over the long weekend by way of an extra pair of hands and hopefully someone that becomes an addition to their family. The family lives between their two homes on the east and west coast of Scotland and will often be travelling between the two, as well as within the UK, and the candidate would be expected to travel with them. The ideal candidate will have experience taking care of children of similar ages, previous experience with a child with additional needs is not required, however, someone with the desire to learn throughout the job is essential.
The candidate should be flexible in their approach to working, be cheerful, an energetic outdoorsy type as the family like to spend time outdoors and enjoy activities such as going out on a boat, fishing, walking but are also happy playing games indoors and enjoying peaceful quiet time or arts and crafts. The children get on very well and are affectionate towards one another. Both children enjoy the outdoors (swimming, biking for the older child), playing in the playground, reading books, and playing with toys.
The role would be to care for and educate the children through age appropriate indoor and outdoor activities and nursery duties as well as offer household support to the parents such as emptying the dishwasher, taking out the bins, ironing for the whole family, changing linen on beds, cooking simple family meals, assisting with school lifts, or the shopping, cleaning the house or anything the parents would ordinarily do themselves. The location where the family is based requires a driver with their own vehicle (including ISOFIX) as they are surrounded by nature and would like someone to have the freedom to get around easily during their time off. Mileage used during working hours will be paid for by the family.
The role includes separate accommodation on the property in a separate, beautiful two-bedroom stone cottage. The family will consider applicants who have a partner and wish to live together. They may also be able to offer one day of work for the partner per week if desired, in the form of groundskeeping, such as mowing the lawn. However, this is not essential to the role advertised.
The working days will be 4 days per week, most likely from Thursday – Sunday or Friday-Monday, 10–12 hours daily. The salary on offer is from £12 gross per hour but this is negotiable based on experience. The accommodation is included free of charge and council tax will be paid by the employer, however utility bills are the responsibility of the employee. This role is to start as soon as possible, however the family will be taking their time to find the right candidate as they would like for this to be a long-term arrangement for a candidate seeking a long-term secure role. The first interview will be held over video call.
