A lovely multi-national family residing in Surrey, U.K is seeking and educated and experienced governess for the care and education of their daughter aged 7. They are seeking a long-term governess who can assist the girl with her studies, homework and her 11 plus entrance exams into U.K boarding schools.

Although aged 7, she is in year three at school as she was moved up a year due to her strong academic qualities. The parents would like a candidate that can assist with education as well as have a lot of fun and engage in lots of energetic and active games, including swimming, netball, football and generally loves being active in their role. Someone that can be creative in the way they implement fun, engaging and age-appropriate activities that will allow the girl to develop in academically, physically, socially and emotionally. She enjoys a whole range of activities, some of which include, singing, ballet, art, swimming, violin, piano as well as games such as, Lego, imaginary play (building forts, veterinary/shop imaginary play) scavenger hunts etc. Arts and Crafts and she is a big Harry Potter fan and has read three of the books. They have a fully staffed household; therefore a team player is essential.

The ideal candidate will be kind, caring, patient and love their job as a governess as well as be looking for a long-term role in a great family that would like the governess to be like a part of their family and whom they have great trust and communication with. Someone that has a great relationship with their daughter and brings joy to her life but also knows how to set boundaries and have discipline when necessary based on mutual agreement with the parents. The Governess should be comfortable cooking simple and healthy breakfasts, which would be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The family has a small pet dog (Malshipoo). A candidate who has a PGCE is preferred and at least 3 years working within the private household sector.

This is a live-in role from Monday – Friday from 7am – 7pm, ideally the candidate will have their own accommodation for the weekends. Although some flexibility will be required on occasion, with perhaps one week of Proxy Parenting per year if the parents travel.

The salary on offer is from £70,000 gross per year. 28 days holiday per year are offered, whereby the governess may choose two weeks and the family will choose the other two.

Interviews are to begin immediately, however finding the right candidate is very important to the family and they will be taking their time to find the right governess to work with their daughter and household.

Requirements:

•      Fluent in English
•      3+ years experience working with these age groups
•      Teaching/Experience with teaching Maths, English and Science
•      Excellent previous references
•      DBS check cleared
•      First Aid certificate
•      Degree educated (PGCE preferred)
