SEN Nanny/Manny for B20 months (Epilepsy & Global Development Delay)

Location: Wandsworth SW18 

Wage / Salary:  £18 - £20 per hour gross depending on experience (up to £26,000 gross per annum)

Essential Skills/Traits:  

• Experienced implementing therapies as designated by specialists i.e. physiotherapy programs and occupational therapy
• Prior experience with babies (Ages 0 - 4)
• Patient, warm and compassionate approach
• A great understanding of Early Years development 
• Highly organised 
• Paediatric First Aid trained

Desirable skills/Traits: 

• Specialist knowledge of occupational therapy and physiotherapy
• Engaging and energetic personality
• Global Developmental Delay experience 
• Understanding of / Experience of seizures 

Start Date: Jan 2021

Days & Hours: 

• 20 -25 hours per week / Monday - Friday / 3 - 5 days per week
• Hours and days worked are flexible for the right candidate, as the mother works from home
• Ideally the chosen Sennie would work 5 hours per day Monday - Friday 

Pets: 2 miniature Dachshunds

SENNIES are looking for a warm and engaging Sennie to care for B20 Months in Wandsworth. We would love to find a Sennie who has epilepsy experience however this is not essential as training is provided for all aspects of the role. 

About B20 Months:

B20 Months is a happy cuddly and calm little boy who has a rare genetic disorder that has resulted in Epilepsy and Global Development Delay. He is an extremely sweet boy who needs support to engage in physical activities throughout the day. He recently began taking an interest in toys and we are keen for a Sennie to explore this with B20 months. He requires lots of sensory and creative stimulation/play which makes this an exciting and rewarding role for someone with a background in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities who has previous child care experience, caring for infants aged 0 - 4 years of age. 

B20 months is currently on medication to help reduce his seizures. The medication is working well and his seizures are described as mild. The chosen Sennie will not be expected to administer this medication and full training will be provided. 

B20 months weighs 11kg and will need to be carried around the house, so this role requires someone who is physically fit.

About the role:

We are looking for a patient and engaging Sennie with early years’ experience, who is happy to spend lots of time singing, playing with and encouraging B20 Months in his development whilst also working with him, through different therapies and approaches, to reach his personal milestones. The family are currently working towards improving his fine motor skills and core strength through tummy time, sitting and other physio exercises.

Key duties:

• Sole charge care for B20 months; meal times, nap times, bath times, developmental activities, playing, changing and toileting etc.
• Monitor/log seizures (training will be provided) 
• Continuing with/implementing exercises as set by his Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist 
• Creating and implementing daily opportunities/activities for sensory and tummy play 
• Taking for classes and play dates if safe (post pandemic etc.)

The family are happy to be flexible in terms of preferred days and hours for the right Sennie.

Whilst this is not a housekeeping role, all Sennies are expected to tidy up after themselves and keep on top of basic nursery duties. The Sennie selected will be able to follow and support therapies and interventions determined by the family and professionals. A genuine interest in working with SEN children is a must.
