About the family:

SENNIES are excited to be working with this wonderful, loving family to find a caring and kind-hearted Sennie for their lovely little boy aged 2.5 years. Based in Wandsworth, South West London - the family are keen to find a hard-working and committed carer for their son. Someone who can aid in his physical and mental development, creating a safe and happy environment for him to grow and learn, whilst supporting him with his physical and providing personal care.

Both mum and dad are passionate about ensuring their little one receives the best care possible and are truly committed to providing him with an exceptional quality of life and helping him overcome the many challenges he may face.

About B2:

B2 is, as mum describes, a ‘Little warrior’ who is always able to put a smile on the faces of those he meets. He has faced many challenges already in his young life, but has an amazing sense of determination. He is a positive and bright little boy who, with the right support and care, will be able to overcome any obstacle.

B2 has Cerebral Palsy and Global Development Delay, and also has epileptic episodes during his sleep. His Cerebral Palsy mostly affects his motor skills and mobility and so needs constant one to one care to allow him to move, play and explore. B2 requires assistance with feeding and drinking - this can be especially challenging for him as he suffers with reflux issues - along with other personal care needs such as toileting.

B2 loves to be read to and is a very sociable little boy, he adores being around and interacting with other people. He also enjoys T.V time, and especially likes to be pushed on the swing!

About the role:

The family require a patient, calm, warm and caring Sennie. Someone who is highly intuitive, organised and detail oriented. The safety of their child is of the utmost importance and therefore the ideal Sennie should be able to provide previous examples demonstrating their safeguarding ability and highlighting their awareness and attention to detail. It is expected that you will be able to follow and support therapies and interventions determined by the family and professionals; The role includes administering medication, and it is important that you can meet B2’s daily requirements with the physiotherapy and treatments, following his parents/specialists instructions.

Specific experience with Cerebral Palsy is not essential as training will be provided by the family, but a genuine love and passion for working with children with additional needs along with  a desire to help them face their frustrations and fears and the ability to meet their personal care needs, is a must. Someone with a big heart, who is full of love and light, who is able to provide an exceptional standard of care and support.

The family would like their Sennie to help B2 with his mobility and encourage him to move himself in a safe way. They would also like someone who can work with B2 to develop his language and communication skills, and ideally the Sennie will have previous experiences or examples of implementing these strategies.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a super Sennie to really be involved in the development and growth of a wonderful little boy.

In summary, we are looking for someone who is reliable, responsible, intelligent, warm, engaging and kind who has a track record working with early years / under 5’s as a professional nanny.

If that sounds like you then please get in touch to discuss the position further. A genuine interest and some experience working with SEN children is a must.
