Job Description

Finchley (N3) Experienced nanny trained in Montessori or a similar child-led approach (such as Steiner or RIE) for a permanent, part-time role with a lovely family in Finchley N3. ASAP start. Up to 34,125 gross annually – £23-£25 gross hourly.

A warm and welcoming family of three based in Finchley (N3) are seeking a calm, nurturing and reliable part-time local nanny for three days per week to care for their 22-month-old son. The family is looking for someone with a genuine passion for early childhood development and a respectful, child-led approach to care, drawing inspiration from any of the following, Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Steiner, attachment parenting and play-based learning.

This is a sole-charge role, although both parents are often at home working on separate floors. Mum currently feeds their son to sleep for his post-lunch nap; aside from this, there will be a brief handover with parents at the beginning and end of each day.

A driver is not required, and parking is available.

Start: ASAP
Days: 3 days per week – Tuesday, ideally Wednesday and Thursday. Hours: 8.30am – 5.15pm. 26 hours and 15 minutes per week. For the right candidate, additional half day hours may be available on a fourth day.
Salary: Up to £34,125 gross per annum (£23–£25 gross per hour, depending on experience and qualifications)

Duties include:

  • All nursery duties
  • Engaging in play and supporting learning through play
  • Planning age-appropriate, interest-led activities
  • Outings to local parks and the library
  • Supporting nap times
  • Assisting with potty learning
  • Preparing healthy, nutritious meals (ideally for the family)

  • Be emotionally attuned, calm and empathetic
  • Value nurturing, secure relationships with children
  • Support each child’s individuality and interests
  • Enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring the local environment
  • Be confident working collaboratively with parents
  • Have a strong interest in child nutrition and healthy cooking
  • An interest in music would be a bonus

Requirements:

  • 2+ years’ solid nannying experience with toddlers of a similar age
  • passion for child development, ability to take initiative and ownership of their own learning
  • a growth mindset for those with less experience
  • Non-smoker
  • Enhanced DBS (current)
  • Paediatric first aid qualification
  • Excellent, checkable references
