The Hannibal Regional Healthcare System (HRHS) story began when community benefactors and leaders formed Hannibal’s first hospitals - Levering Hospital in 1903 and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in 1914. The merger of these two organizations in the late 1980s led to another major milestone in the evolution of strong community-based healthcare.

The Hannibal Regional Healthcare System team is over 1,000 strong and is mission-driven, values-based and committed to preserving the vision and legacy of our founders. Our team takes pride in continuing to create and strengthen access to community-based, contemporary healthcare resources for patients, families, and the communities we serve.

• Hannibal Regional Hospital recently earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Home Care Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective care.  

• As Missouri’s first Baby-Friendly™ facility, the Chris Coons Women’s Care Center at Hannibal Regional Hospital has been recognized by the Missouri Department of Health as the state experts on breastfeeding and asked to share their expertise with other hospitals in the state.

• Hannibal Regional Hospital was named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention, along with prestigious excellence awards in coronary intervention and orthopedic joint replacements procedures — placing HRH in the top five and ten percent of hospitals nationwide in the treatment of those issues respectively.
